The root chakra, also known as Muladhara, is the first chakra, and is located at the base of the spine. This chakra is represented by the color red. Being close to the earth, it is associated with the feeling of being grounded and serves as the foundation for the rest of the chakras to be built upon. This is where all of your basic needs are fulfilled first before everything else. When this chakra is properly opened we can feel a sense of safety and fearlessness. To make sure that your chakra is healthy it is important to make sure that you are secure and that all your basic needs are being met. Some exercises like dancing, jumping, or jogging can aid in keeping your root chakra healthy and open. This makes sure that the world around us is a safe and fun place for us to live in.
